Pheromone traps for stored foods pests

Pheromones are natural, biologically active substances that demonstrate a highly specific action on a particular insect species.  They act in extremely low concentrations - microgram quantities comparable to the natural background of odors produced by insects.  
The female sex pheromone used in traps mimics the natural process of attracting males of the same species, and as a consequence characterizes a high probability of capture.

Types of pheromone traps

Delta pheromone trap
The Delta trap has quite simple design, it is easy to assemble and consists of a trap body, an adhesive insert and a pheromone dispenser. It is used to capture both small and large insect pests.

Barrier-type pheromone trap

Barrier traps are used to catch the brown-marble bed bug.

Pheromone production has some specific features. Such synthesis is expedient to be carried out under laboratory conditions.
